After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive north to Alexandria, Egypt’s coastal gem where Egyptian, Greco-Roman, and Mediterranean influences converge.

Start at the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, a remarkable underground burial complex blending Egyptian, Greek, and Roman styles. Descend into its spiral stairways and chambered tombs to explore centuries-old carvings and sarcophagi.

Continue to Pompey’s Pillar, a massive Roman triumphal column dedicated to Emperor Diocletian, then explore the ruins of the Serapeum, a temple once devoted to the Greco-Egyptian god Serapis.

Enjoy lunch at a local seafood or Mediterranean-style restaurant.

Next, visit the Qaitbay Citadel, a 15th-century fortress built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Explore the fort’s towers and take in breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea.

End the day at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a striking modern cultural center paying tribute to the ancient Library of Alexandria. Discover millions of books and exhibitions celebrating Alexandria’s enduring legacy of knowledge.

Learn about Egypt’s first female pharaoh and see reliefs depicting her divine birth and expeditions. Pause at the Colossi of Memnon, twin statues that have guarded the Theban plain for thousands of years.
